Hello everyone and a warm welcome to PART 6) of the entries for my weekly: “Fiction in A Flash Challenge 2021.” Week #44
Today I’m featuring a contribution by Gwen Plano.
Last week I set the following Challenge:
Hello everyone and welcome to my new “Fiction in A Flash Challenge!” Each week I’ll be featuring an image and inviting you to write a Flash Fiction or Non-Fiction piece inspired by that image in any format and genre of your choosing. Maximum word count: 750 words.
Here’s the image prompt and the contribution by Gwen Plano.
Gwen says … ‘This week’s prompt is a black and white image of Times Square in New York City. The only color in the photo prompt is a yellow cab. I’ve centered the photo onto another image of that same area prior to COVID 19.
My contribution is a tanka poem. If you’ve traveled to the City, you know the vibrancy that it once had. I deeply hope that life returns.

Nicely done, Gwen. I was in NY once and cannot imaging the ghost town it must be at the moment.
